the word machine
Anyone who thinks phonics are safe and dull hasn't met the Word Machine. Initially a gurgling spouter of random sounds and letters that flock, gallop and splatter across the screen, the Word Machine gradually learns (with us) how to put phonemes and letters together and how to take them apart. These programmes are both great fun and carefully directed to specific phonic teaching. Ideal as a "lesson starter", each programme is closely focussed on one particular group of phonemes. In spectacular graphics, animation, real world action, song and music, letters and phonemes take on a highly entertaining life of their own.
