BETV PILOT SYSTEM
We were chosen to produce a major broadband education project for Pearson Broadband, the interactive division of Pearson. The pilot was a proof of concept and technology, and went under the working title of BETV (Broadband Educational Television).

PACCIT HOMEWORK
"HOME and School linked via divergent technology in a pedagogic framework." This project was produced in association with the University of Sussex and funded by the DTI, ERSC and EPSRC It combines expertise in educational software design with that of television production to develop an exemplar Interactive Television system for children aged 6-7 years, their parents, teachers and classmates at school. We took an existing set of broadcast video media and associated interactive resources that tackle Key Stage 1numeracy. The material was distributed to set-top boxes both in homes and school. In the classroom the child was able to work alone or as part of a group and interact both with the television and with a tablet PC as directed by the teacher. When the tablet PC was taken home children could complete further activities using the television and tablet either working alone, with their family, or with other classmates who may be co-located or at a distance in their own homes. The project was piloted in two schools in West Sussex and received very positive responses from pupils, teachers and parents. The system has been accepted as a demo at EURO itv in 2007.
